TC-GUN Instructional Video
The TC-G fastener for grooved decking is already the quickest way to install a deck, and when you add the new Tiger Claw Installation Gun to the picture you can cut your already quick installation time in half!!! Unbelievable you say…. A 16' deck board can now be fully installed in as little as one minute. The Tiger Claw Installation Gun is compatible with the TC-G, timbertech concealoc and Trex hidden deck fasteners for grooved decking. Just slip the fastener onto the nose of the gun, insert into board groove and pull the trigger. It doesn't stop there. The installation gun drives a pneumatic screw into each joist like a nail and can be removed like a traditional screw. The new installation gun makes owning a beautiful nail free deck more affordable and easier than ever.
How to Renew Your Deck with Composite Decking Part 1
If your deck is looking weathered and worn, you can replace components with composite materials without a complete rebuild. Composite doesnt splinter or have knots and its low-maintenance. This is the first installment in a two-part series on How to Renew Your Deck with Composite Decking that shows you how to update an old deck using composite materials. You can extend the life and beauty of your treated lumber deck by replacing worn or damaged wood with composite materials. Were removing all the treated lumber materials but leaving the framework intact, since it is strong and structurally sound. Then were going to install composite materials to enhance the look of the deck. Composite materials are manufactured in a variety of colors and styles. This first part of the two-part series shows you how to install new composite posts and decking. The second will guide you through installing new composite railings, balusters and post caps.
How to Build a Deck

A 10 step process describing how to build a pressure treated deck. This is a 2 level deck with benches, a bbq island, and a pergola. The bbq island contains plenty of counter space, a cold water sink, a portable bbq, and a mini fridge. Pressure treated wood and cement boards were used to build the bbq island while stone effects was used for the finishing. The backside of the deck has a door of storage and access to the plumbing. This is a great place to store fire-burning wood and extra propane tanks. No rails were used in the building process, benches and stairs protect the perimeter of the deck. The stair treads were overhung by 2 inches so that rope lighting could be installed under it. This provides ample lighting for each step and warmth to the overall ambiance. The pergola was made with 4×4 posts instead of the usual 2×6's or 2×8's. Adding notches to the pergola beams allowed me to place my posts on an angle to give it a diamond shape look. The fibreglass columns add beauty to the architecture. The two tone stains add a unique perspective to the deck. Use semi-transparent stain instead of a solid stain. With semi-transparent the stain just fades over time; solid stains will chip like paint and has to be sanded. For new wood fresh from the mill remember to remove the mill glaze before staining. This allows the stain to penetrate deeper into the wood allowing for a longer life span. The funrniture was bought from Gracious Living and the furnishings (plants and candles) from IKEA.
